Fugitive wanted for child sex assault in Burnet Co. captured in San Antonio
A tip from a CBS Austin viewer led to the capture of a man wanted for sexually assaulting a child in Burnet County.
Aaron Dehart was captured on Thursday afternoon in downtown San Antonio after information on his whereabouts was received by the Austin division of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.
Dehart was first convicted of indecency with a child in 2016 and received ten years of probation. He was supposed to register as a sex offender and keep up with his probation officer.
"He failed to report and that's when he was staying at his friend's house," said U.S. Deputy Marshal Brandon Filla.
A young girl was living in the house in Burnet County. According to authorities, that's when Dehart repeated his crime.
"Once again Aaron Dehart did attempt to sexually assault a child," Filla said.
He stopped reporting to authorities, but before disappearing for good, he made a call to the Burnet Police Department saying he would be living at the ARCH in downtown Austin.
Dehart is currently in custody in San Antonio awaiting extradition to Burnet.
