Convicted child sex offender captured in Manor after CBS Austin viewer tip

UPDATE: Eulalio Rocky Pena was arrested on Wednesday without incident in Manor thanks to a tip from a CBS Austin viewer.

A convicted sex offender is on the run and now authorities think he might be hiding in Hays County.

Eulalio Rocky Pena already had a history of sexual contact with a child when he was arrested in February of 2012 for sexually assaulting a minor.

“Probably one of the most egregious offenses that one can cause upon a child,” said Hector Gomez, Supervisory U.S. Marshal.

After admitting to the crime, Pena was given eight years probation. He had to register as a lifelong sex offender and continue to register every 90 days.

“The last time he was seen was in early 2016,” Gomez said.

After that, Pena violated his probation in Travis County and did not show up to register in Hays County.

“That certainly will put him at a higher degree or higher risk of reoffending, and that certainly should cause all of us some concern,” Gomez said.

Authorities want to warn that he may be in Niederwald along the Hays-Caldwell County line.

“He probably doesn't have the economic means or the finances to get very far, he's probably in the area, that's certainly what we suspect,” Gomez said.

Pena is believed to be a gang member and poses a threat to children in the community.

“They do tend to reoffend, so it's of importance that the public look at the picture of Eulalio Pena,” Gomez said.
