A fugitive Williamson County man wanted on aggravated assault charges has been captured in Mexico.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force says 36-year-old Jimmy Mariano Soto Jr., whose last known address was in Leander, was wanted for numerous warrants stemming from an incident in 2015 where he was accused of seriously injuring a person during an assault.

He was finally tracked down to Guanajuato, Mexico where he was taken into custody by authorities. He has since been handed over to U.S. Marshals in Houston and taken to the Harris County Jail where he awaits extradition to Williamson County, officials say.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force says a tip provided by the public was crucial in their effort to locate Soto in Mexico.
