WilCo Animal Shelter taking in 100+ animals from Cedar Park residence
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas —
The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is taking in an estimated 100 animals that were found at a residence in Cedar Park Friday.
According to the Cedar Park Police Department, Animal Control responded Friday morning to a barking dog complaint and noticed an odor emanating from a house.
When officials entered the residence, they found an estimated 70-90 cats, several dogs, birds, rabbits and lizards.
The owners were given until Saturday afternoon to move the animals to a place with better living conditions. When they could not, residents began moving the animals to the shelter.
Transport of the animals continued Sunday.
Police confirm that the owners are cooperating and want what is best for the animals. No charges have been filed against them.
The animals will be available for adoption from the shelter after a holding period, according to a police spokesperson.
