West Lake Hills doctor charged with drug possession
Court documents say Austin Police officers investigating a possible sexual assault by a West Lake Hills doctor arrested the man for drug possession.
According to the arrest affidavits, David Anthony Miranda, 47, is facing two drug possession charges for cocaine and morphine, both state jail felonies.
KWTX in Waco reports Miranda worked as a contractor in the Metroplex Hospital emergency room in Killeen. He has since been removed from duty.
Investigators say a woman came forward to police back in March to report a sexual assault. She said she did not recall being filmed or photographed by Miranda, but when she asked if he did, he hesitated and said he did not take a picture of her "bottom," but a second man did on his cell phone and sent it to him in a text message.
Court documents say police served a search warrant at Miranda's West Lake Hills home, and in a dresser they found naked photos of women and two small baggies that contained a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine. A vial of morphine was also found in the home.
The total amounts for the cocaine and morphine was less than one gram for each.
