Weekend weather forecast

(PHOTO: CBS Austin)

STRONG TO SEVERE STORM RISK

Heads up for your weekend: though most of it will be just fine, the pre-dawn hours Sunday could include showers and storms and some could be strong to severe. High winds and hail are the main threats and I’m forecasting an 80% chance of rain early Sunday. The cold front will likely push through between 3-7am for the Austin area, earlier in the Hill Country, later to the south and east. Once the front pushes through, we’ll see clearing skies, cooler temps and lower humidity making for a great end to the weekend. Before the front, some patchy drizzle or spotty showers are possible on Saturday with summer-like warmth! Upper 80s will be possible with heat index values in the low 90s.
