Travis County Sheriff's Office seizes $300K in cocaine during bust
More that a quarter of a million dollars' worth of cocaine was seized during a drug bust led by the Travis County Sheriff's Office, the agency reported on Friday.
The department's VICE unit received information that a suspect, identified as Sergio Gorostieta, was distributing large amounts of cocaine in the Austin-Travis County area.
In cooperation with the department's SWAT and K-9 divisions, as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety's Air Division, TCSO conducted land and air surveillance on Gorostieta on August 17.
TCSO says that around 11:00 a.m. they observed a vehicle driven by Gorostieta involved in what the believed was a drug deal between the suspect and another person.
Officers moved in and arrested Gorostieta, who they say was in possession of three kilograms of cocaine, with a street value of $300,000.
Two others, Joaquin Castro and Arnulfo Mondragon, were also arrested and they, along with Gorostieta, are charged with delivery of a controlled substance greater than 400 grams, a first degree felony.
