Police in Temple are looking for a man accused of driving a houseboat over a 4-year-old and her father at Temple Lake Park on June 23.

The girl, Kaitlyn Oliver, died that day. Her father, 37-year-old Patrick Oliver, died on Thursday after having his legs amputated.

The driver of the boat, 44-year-old Jason Bernal of Killeen, was held at the Bell County jail after he was arrested on another charge of criminally negligent homicide after Kaitlyn's death, but made bail on a $150,000 bond.

Bernal told authorities “he put his boat into reverse and backed up his boat when someone told him to stop,” according to an affidavit.

He said “from the captain’s position in the boat, he could not see behind him because the boat is three stories tall," KWTX reports.

A Bell County district attorney has reviewed the case and charged Bernal with criminally negligent homicide. A second warrant has been issued for Bernal's arrest after the death of Patrick Oliver.

If you have any information on Bernal's whereabouts, you are asked to call the Temple Police Department at 254-298-5500.
