Teen identified as victim in deadly Southwest Austin crash
AUSTIN, Texas —
Austin Police have identified the person who died in a vehicle crash in Southwest Austin this past Saturday.
APD says on March 18 at approximately 8:07a.m., officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Southwest Parkway following reports of a collision.
Upon arrival, officers located a 2009 Dodge Charger at the scene. The driver died while paramedics were transporting him to a nearby hospital.
According to the preliminary report, the vehicle was traveling eastbound in the 4200 block of Southwest Parkway at a high rate of speed. The driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, drifted off the left side of the roadway, into a grass median and struck a tree.
The victim has now been identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Joseph Young.
