San Marcos child sex assault suspect arrested in Mexico
A suspect in the sexual assault of a child in August has been arrested in Mexico.
According to San Marcos Police, a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at a motel on August 14, 2017.
The suspect, identified as 56-year-old Jesus Delgado, was known to the victim, according to police.
A warrant was issued for Delgado, who could not be located in the San Marcos area. The U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force joined in the search.
Information led authorities to believe Delgado had fled to Mexico, and, in cooperation with the Mexican government, he was located in Monterrey, Mexico and detained by police.
Delgado was deported from Mexico after it was determined he had no legal status to remain there. He was booked into the Webb County Sheriff's Office and is awaiting transfer to Hays County.
