Rabid bat found in Dripping Springs area

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office says a rabid bat was found dead on Friday, May 11 in the Dripping Springs area.

The bat was found around 10 a.m. in a grass area next to a residential driveway in 100 block of Canterbury Drive, located within the Belterra Subdivision.

The Department of State Health Services examined it and determined that it had rabies.

This is the second rabies-positive bat found in the last week in Hays County. Last Tuesday, May 8, a rabid bat was found in Buda.
