Police are investigating the reported attempted abduction of a child Monday night in East Austin.

Austin Police say it happened near the intersection of Riverview and Robert Martinez Jr. streets, close to Festival Beach.

Investigators say a male suspect attempted to take a child from at the location, but fled after his attempt was unsuccessful.

According to the victim's family, 8-year-old Andrew Sosa was at the Central Austin Youth League baseball fields practicing with his team. A man on a bike started talking to Sosa along the fence line farther away from the rest of the team. With the permission of his mother, Sosa spoke with CBS Austin.

"I got like scared, so I started backing up like just a little bit and right after he said, 'Do you want to come?' That's when I ran," says Sosa.

Sosa ran back to his parents who called police.

Sosa says the suspect was a Hispanic male with a mustache and long hair. He was wearing a blue suit with a white button-up shirt and had a black satchel or backpack on the back of a red bicycle.

Other adults who were at the baseball fields say they did see the man lingering around the area where the boys were practicing. Parents say Austin police searched the area but did not locate the suspect
