Police identify pedestrian killed in S. Austin crash
AUSTIN, Texas —
Austin Police have identified a man killed in a crash in South Austin last Saturday night.
It happened around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of W. Slaughter Lane and Southpark Meadows Drive.
Police say a silver Toyota Highlander was traveling eastbound on W. Slaughter Lane toward Southpark Meadows Dr. with a green light.
That's when a pedestrian--identified as 23-year-old Devon Reed Gerald--ran across the street from north to south against the pedestrian traffic light.
Gerald was struck by the Toyota Highlander. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.
Police say Gerald was transported to South Austin Medical Center, where he later died.
