Officers arrest man sought for questioning in East Austin homicide

UPDATE 4:05 p.m.: Austin Police say officers with the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Dijon Reid on Tuesday.

He was wanted for questioning in the investigation of a man found dead at an East Austin home last week.

Austin Police are looking to speak to a man regarding a homicide at an east Austin home last week.

Police responded to a check welfare call on Thursday, August 31 around 12:46 p.m. at a home in the 7500 block of Berkman Drive near Cameron Road. Inside they found the body of a 59-year-old man, identified as Charles Edward Peterson III.

An autopsy performed by the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office revealed the cause of death to be homicide.

Detectives want to speak to Peterson's roommate, 27-year-old Dijon Reid.

Reid is described as a black male, 6 feet tall an weighing approximately 200 lbs. Police say he is believed to frequent the Manor Road/Rogge Lane and Cameron Road areas.

According to police, Reid is currently wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1000 reward for information leading to the capture of Dijon Reid.
