Over 60lbs of cocaine seized after WilCo traffic stop
Over 60 pounds of cocaine was seized Tuesday in Williamson County after a traffic stop on I-35.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, a deputy stopped a 2009 Dodge journey for driving in the left lane without passing in a posted area.
Investigators say the driver -- identified as Sandra Jane Calderon, 34 -- was acting nervous and was giving confliction stories to the deputy. The deputy asked for permission to search the vehicle, which was granted.
With the help of a K9, cocaine was located in hidden compartments in the SUV.
The cocaine weighed approximately 68.2 pounds -- with a street value of just over $1 million, according to the sheriff's office.
Calderon was arrested and is currently in a federal detention facility in Bastrop, facing federal drug charges.
Further details on the incident were not immediately available.
