Man killed after being struck while trying to cross I-35
AUSTIN, Texas —
A man attempting to cross I-35 in north Austin was struck so hard by a vehicle he was thrown into the opposite side of traffic, according to police.
Austin Police tells CBS Austin that a man was attempting to cross the southbound lanes at the 13300 block of N IH-35, between West Parmer Lane and West Howard Lane. He was struck by a vehicle and thrown into the northbound side.
Austin-Travis County EMS reported medics were attempting CPR. They ended up transporting a male in his 20s to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.
The man was pronounced dead at 4:55 p.m., according to police.
Austin Police shut down all lanes except for one or two in both directions for several hours for the investigation. Lanes were open again as of 9 p.m. Sunday night.
