Texas GOP Congressman Roger Williams was at the baseball field in Alexandria, VA on Wednesday morning were Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and others were shot by a gunman.

Rep. Williams' office says he was not shot, but video from the incident appears to show Williams being taken away on a stretcher by medical personnel. A former aide for Williams says the congressman injured his ankle during the shooting.

A member of Williams' staff, identified as Zack Barth, was shot and is receiving medical attention.

Congressman Williams' office released the following statement:

Congressman Roger Williams’ office (R – Austin), released the following information Wednesday after shots were fired at the Republican congressional baseball team practice in Alexandria, Virginia.
At approximately 7am ET this morning, an armed gunman arrived at baseball practice and opened fire. Congressman Williams was not shot, however a member of his staff was shot and is receiving medical attention. The gunman has been detained and at this time we do not have any further information but will continue to release it as it comes to surface.
The Republican baseball team holds practice every morning at 6:30am ET at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Virginia. Rep. Williams has been the coach of the team since he joined Congress in 2013.

Two other Republican Congressmen from Texas, Reps. Joe Barton and Mike Conaway, were also at the baseball field. Both were not injured.

Congressman Blake Farenthold (R-TX) issued the following statement:

My thoughts and prayers are with Rep. Steve Scalise, Capitol Police, and the other victims of this morning’s shooting. Thank you to the Capitol Police for their quick response to stop the shooter. The Congressional Baseball Game is a bipartisan event enjoyed by thousands every year. That someone would target members of Congress and their staff in this setting is horrifying.

Rep. Scalise and two Capitol police officers were shot Wednesday at a baseball practice for a charity baseball game in Alexandria, Virginia.

A congressional aide said Scalise was in stable condition at George Washington University Hospital.
