MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND
What a great start to the weekend! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms!! We’ll have a brilliantly sunny Mother’s Day weekend with pleasant mornings and hot afternoons. What’s nice is that the humidity levels will be comfortable, so we won’t have to endure any really high heat index values this weekend! So far at Camp Mabry, we’ve had 10 days of 90+ heat. Sunday will likely make number 11. I’m forecasting a high of 91 which will fall short of the record of 96 set in 2003.
WET WEATHER NEXT WEEK
Here’s what we do know: southerly winds next week will bring in extra humidity. That will in turn mean more clouds, mainly from Tuesday into the following weekend. Here’s what we don’t know: how much rain we will get. For now, computer models vary widely with the potential of seeing daily rain chances mainly Wednesday the 17th through the following weekend. Several small disturbances will bring us the possibility of scattered showers and storms, and with a very moisture-laden atmosphere, that could translate into periods of heavy rain. For now, I’m leaning toward the idea of rain totals mid to late week next week ranging from around 1” on the low side (which would not translate to any flood concerns) to perhaps several inches or more on the high side (which could set us up for potential flooding). It’s so far out that we need to watch and wait before making any more specific forecast rainfall projections. Stay tuned!
