Family of four loses home to fire in Leander
LEANDER, Texas —
A double-wide trailer caught fire shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday in Leander-- resulting in the home being destroyed.
Travis County ESD1 responded to the fire at 24103 Yaupon Trail and arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. The crew then faced water issues in the area and had to shuttle water from Jonestown to the site of the fire.
Additional crews were requested for assistance, resulting in Leander Fire, Austin Fire, and Liberty Hill Fire assisting ESD1. Austin-Travis County EMS also arrived to assist in helping rehab crews.
The house was deemed a loss by crews on scene. As of 10:57 p.m., the fire was not out, but was said to be contained. Crews did not anticipate the fire spreading to any nearby structures.
According to Travis County ESD1, the 4 members of the family were not home when the fire started. Two toddler boys ages 2 and 4 lost everything and the family does not have insurance.
There were no reports of injuries.
The Travis County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause, but the incident most likely was an accident.
