Mayor of Austin asking for donations to the Red Cross
SAN ANTONIO (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - The Mayor of Austin, Texas, Steve Adler, asked for donations to the American Red Cross.
Adler said that Austin's Red Cross center helps with the distribution of aid to 80 counties in the state. He said that the Red Cross needs about $10 million at this time to respond.
"If anybody else wants to help, what we need right now more than anything else is funds," Adler said.
He said the easiest way to contribute is by texting RED CROSS to 90999. This will send a ten dollar donation.
The Mayor also added that people have come forward to volunteer and help as they clean up from Harvey. Austin is highly prone to flash floods but the mayor said the storm looks like it is heading east from the city.
