Manchaca firefighter visits station after major accident, surgeries
AUSTIN, Texas —
A Manchaca firefighter who was involved in a major motorcycle accident in late June and endured multiple surgeries was able to visit his fire station Sunday.
Manchaca Fire Rescue firefighter Sam Porter was involved in a collision while riding a motorcycle on Westgate Blvd and Coatbridge Drive. Porter struck the side of a car and was ejected from the motorcycle, sustaining life-threatening injuries.
Porter was in a coma and underwent more than five hours of surgery when he was taken to the hospital.
On Sunday, Porter walked into his fire station and visited with his fellow firefighters.
In a social media post by Carlos Braumuller, Porter is said to be eager to get back to work.
