Local business’s plant nursery destroyed in shed fire
AUSTIN, Texas —
The vegetable nursery of a local business was destroyed in a shed fire Saturday afternoon, according to Austin Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the 1900 block of Smith Road, near the Boggy Creek Greenbelt in east Austin, to find a shed fulling engulfed in flames.
The fire was quickly knocked down but the shed was a total loss, stated AFD.
The department says that the shed was used by a local business as a Microgreen Nursery, which "Micro greens are miniature vegetables that are often used in fine dining establishments to enhance plate arrangements", per a website quoted by AFD.
No other structures were threatened nor injuries reported.
Damage is estimated at $40,000.
