How to avoid ACL traffic and closures

The first week of ACL is underway, and that means a lot more traffic in and around downtown Austin. The biggest closures will be around Zilker Park, but traffic on MoPac will also be affected. (CBS Austin)

The second weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival is underway, and that means a lot more traffic in and around downtown Austin. The biggest closures will be around Zilker Park, but traffic on MoPac will also be affected.

Drivers won’t be able to turn onto Barton Springs Road from MoPac, because it will be completely closed between MoPac and South Lamar Boulevard from midnight Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.

North of there, Stratford Drive will also be closed during those hours, and on the other side of Barton Creek, Sterzing Street and Toomey Road will be one way.

On the other side of MoPac, westbound lanes of Rollingwood Drive and Bee Cave Road will be closed at MoPac during the festival.

North of the river, you can expect closures for ACL’s shuttle bus route. San Antonio Street will be closed between 3rd and 4th streets, and 4th Street will be closed between Guadalupe and Nueces streets. Those closures will be from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday through Sunday.

Saturday night is when we could see even more delays downtown. That’s when the Texas Longhorns take on Kansas State on the 40 acres for a home game at 6 p.m.
