Future stylist searching for her forever family
At the end of August, Destinee will turn 17-years-old. A birthday is usually a celebration for most teenagers but for Destinee it holds even more significance.
"I was hoping I get adopted pretty soon, because once I turn 18 I will age out," said Destinee.
She will only have one more year to find her forever family.
"I know once I get adopted, everything is going to be okay," said Destinee. "That's really, really important," she said.
After checking out the animals at the Austin Zoo, Destinee grabbed her make up bag to give CBS Austin Reporter Lindsay Liepman a makeover.
"My plan is to right after I graduate to go to cosmetology school. So I can do hair, makeup, nails," she said.
Destinee lives with a sort of sisterhood of girls at a settlement home.
"They allow me to practice and everything on them," said Destinee.
She says an older child can bring joy and hopes to inspire others with her desire to be adopted.
