Fire at home in Leander displaces six people

A house fire in Leander has left six people looking for another place to stay early Monday morning.

The fire happened at a home in the 17700 block of North Rim Drive.

Firefighters say the fire started in the back of the home. The homeowner tells CBS Austin that smoke detectors woke the occupants up.

The homeowner also believes the fire was caused by a lightning strike.

In addition to the six people in the home, firefighters were able to rescue a hedgehog the family was pet sitting.
