Man found dead in North Austin park

A body was found in North Austin Monday afternoon. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, ATCEMS, and Austin Fire Department responded to a wilderness rescue call at 12:41 p.m. and located the body in the 2000 block of Park Bend Drive. The body was identified as a man in his 40s. (CBS Austin)

UPDATE 12:50 p.m.: Police say an autopsy was performed this morning and they are waiting on toxicology.

The death is not considered suspicious.

4:30 p.m.: Police say the body of a man in North Austin Monday afternoon is not currently being investigated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the Austin Police Department says at around 12:40 p.m. a 911 caller reported she she may have found a deceased person at Walnut Creek Park near Park Bend Drive.

Responding officers discovered an approximately 30-year-old deceased black male.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident, but for now it is not considered suspicious.

The cause of death has not yet been determined.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
