Credit card skimmer found at North Austin gas station ... again
A credit card skimmer has been found at a North Austin gas station for the second time in about six months.
It was found Thursday at the 7-Eleven located at the intersection of Burnet Road and Hwy 183.
Investigators with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) say the skimmer was using a Bluetooth signal, appearing as a six-digit string of 3 letters and 3 numbers.
Skimmers were found at the same gas station in late July last year. At the time a 7-Eleven employee said the owner and manager do daily inspections of the pumps.
TDA says customers should avoid using pumps with credit card scanners that look unusual or appear to have been tampered with. To make a complaint about a fuel pump contact TDA at 800-TELL-TDA.
