Coupland High School in east Williamson County was briefly placed on lockdown last week as deputies took an armed suicidal woman into custody.

It happened Friday, May 19. The sheriff's office says deputies responded to a home near the high school for a check welfare call after the woman began positing suicidal notes on Facebook.

The woman came outside of the home armed with a gun in her hand a note in the other. Deputies were able to bring her down by firing non-lethal rounds, the sheriff's office says.

The woman fell to the ground but was still within reach of the weapon -- that's when deputies fired more non-lethal rounds to ensure she didn't reach it. The woman -- her identify has not been released -- was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Coupland High School was only placed on lock down as a precaution, the sheriff's office says.
