Child in water drifts away from family, rescued by bystander
SPICEWOOD, Texas —
A possible tragedy was averted Saturday afternoon thanks to safety precautions when a child in the water drifted away from their family on the Colorado River.
Austin-Travis County EMS responded to a call at 4:38 p.m. of a child in distress in the water at the Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area in Spicewood, Texas.
The child was rescued by a bystander on a jet ski, ATCEMS says.
Back on shore, the patient was evaluated and treated. "No life-threatening condition noted", tweeted ATCEMS.
Authorities noted that the child had flotation devices, which prevented them from going under.
Lake Travis Fire Rescue, Burnet County Sheriff’s Office and STAR Flight are among the multiple agencies who responded to the scene.
