Body found on shoreline of Lake Travis park identified
County authorities have identified the body of a man found on the shoreline of a Lake Travis park on Tuesday.
The body has been identified as Ricardo Sierra Martinez, 27, of Mexico.
Martinez went missing Sunday afternoon in the water at Bob Wentz Park.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said he was with a group of friends -- and they last saw him swimming out to and sitting on a sandbar. About 30 minutes later, he was gone.
TCSO and rangers with Travis County Parks searched the park while DPS assisted searching from the air with a helicopter and the Jonestown Police Department searched the lake with sonar. His body was found on Tuesday, according to the sheriff's office.
The cause and manner of his death is pending the final report from the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office. But the sheriff's office says the investigation thus far points to drowning.
