Austin man beaten to death on Greek island
An Austin man was killed Thursday in a street fight on a Greek island, according to local media reports.
According to the Greek news website kathimerini.gr, 22-year-old Bakari Henderson, of Austin, died on the island of Zakynthos. It started as a confrontation between Henderson and employees of a nightclub in the town of Laganas. It spilled out into the street where Henderson was beaten and killed.
Reportedly, surveillance video showed 10 people were involved. Four people have been arrested.
His family says Bakari was in Greece working on a photo shoot to launch his own clothing line.
"Bakari loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, and meeting new people. He was a big thinker and enjoyed coming up with new business ventures. Bakari was an inspiration to all he met. He loved life and lived it to the fullest," his family said in a statement.
He attended Anderson High School through his junior year and graduated from Hyde Park Baptist High School in 2013. He then went on to attended The Eller College of Management at The University of Arizona, where he graduated this year with a degree in business finance and entrepreneurship.
