Austin Energy travels to Florida to help restore power after Hurricane Irma

Austin, Texas-- Austin Energy deployed several crews to Jacksonville, Florida Sunday morning to assist in power restorations, following Hurricane Irma's damage.

The Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) reached out to Austin Energy before the storm's arrival to ask for help.

Austin Energy sent five crews with 31 employees and two of the city's Fleet Services mechanics which are expected to arrive in Florida Monday, September 11th.

JEA is expected to reimburse Austin Energy for their help, officials said.
