A Northwest Austin juice store is offering its own reward after a break-in robbery over the weekend that was caught on camera.

At around 4:25 Sunday morning, surveillance video caught a man breaking through the glass front door of the Daily Juice off Far West. The man then ran straight to the cash register, rummaged through the counter and eventually stole an iPad and ran off.

“He got an iPad and he made a huge mess, and trashed the door and ruined our Sunday,” said Cary Frieden, whose wife owns the store.

Frieden found the front of their store covered in glass Sunday morning. They made the best of it though, covering the door with a board and wrapping it in Christmas paper.

“So we did our best job of wrapping the door and to give a little holiday cheer,” Frieden said. “At the end of the day we’re a juice bar, if you give us lemons we’re going to make lemonade.”

Then Frieden watched the surveillance video. He said they felt violated watching the man rummage through their store. However, it also makes him feel bad for the man who targeted a juice store.

“Part of me feels bad for the guy who’s doing it, he must be pretty desperate to be attacking us,” Frieden said.

Now he wants the man caught, even offering a reward of free soup for a year to anyone who helps them catch the man.

“We’d really love to see this guy get caught just because it’s kind of painful to do this to a business. It’s pretty painful and we’re not a big franchise company, we’re a mom and pop company,” Frieden said.
