APD: UT junior killed in moped crash collided head-on

According to the Austin Police Department, a young woman was killed in a crash involving a moped and a privately-owned school bus on Monday evening.

It happened at about 7:16p.m. at the 3700 block of Manor Rd between a 2009 White Yamaha and a yellow 1999 GMC.

According to the police report, the moped was traveling south on Manor Road and the GMC was traveling north when for unknown reasons, the Yamaha began to swerve and then went into the northbound lanes of the roadway. The Yamaha struck the GMC head-on.

The driver, identified as Nancy-Jane David, age 21, died at the scene.

On Tuesday, the University of Texas Chi Omega sorority shared the news with their members.

David was a junior student at UT. The sorority will be holding a candlelight vigil for David on Wednesday.
