Domestic disturbance call leads to SWAT situation in East Austin, but subject not in home

The Austin Police Department SWAT responded to a home in East Austin where they believed a subject had barricaded himself inside, possibly with a gun.

Only now, police say the man is no longer in the home.

It happened in the 6900 block of Villita Avenida, near Montopolis and East Riverside.

According to police, the incident began when a woman called police to report a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived at the home, they saw the suspect outside the home. He then ran inside.

Police breached the door an went in the home and did not find the man, but they did find a gun.

The man, believed to be a Hispanic male in his 30s, is still on the loose.

No further details were immediately available.
