The Austin Police Department is asking for the public's help finding a suspect behind several armed robberies in Austin.

According to a video posted by APD, the suspect drives a dark gray 2018 Toyota Camry.

In early February 2018, an armed robbery was committed in South Austin. APD Robbery Detective Joshua Griggers said the suspect approached the first victim at a car wash on East Riverside Drive and Willow Creek. Two more robberies were committed the same week in North Austin by the same person, according to APD.

Griggers said the suspect targeted two people who got cash out at separate Wells Fargo ATMs.

"Anytime someone exhibits a weapon like that, especially a gun, we expect people to take that as a serious threat," Griggers said.

Griggers said the same suspect was captured on surveillance video at all three robberies, leaving in the same dark gray 2018 Toyota Camry.

The robbery unit has exhausted all its leads and is now turning to the public for help before someone gets hurt.

"Anybody that has a gun like that and seems ready to use it we are obviously concerned and we want to catch this individual so at this point it's all hands on deck," Griggers said.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his 20s-30s with a medium to athletic build, a gap in his teeth and possibly a gold grill, according to authorities.

Police believe the man could be responsible for additional robberies, but the unit is working to gather more evidence in those cases.
