Woman killed in East Austin moped collision

A woman was killed Monday night in East Austin after her moped collided with another vehicle. (CBS Austin)

UPDATE (9 p.m.): Police say a moped driver was killed Monday night after she was struck from behind by a privately-owned small school bus.

Investigators say the victim -- identified only as a 22-year-old white female -- was traveling north near the 4000 block of Manor Road when she had some sort of difficulty with the moped and was struck by a bus traveling in the same direction behind her.

The driver of the bus stayed at the scene. There were no passengers in the bus.

EARLIER:

A woman was killed Monday night in East Austin after her moped collided with another vehicle.

It happened in the 4500 block of Manor Road near the Berkman Drive intersection. Austin Police said they were called out at 7:21 p.m. after reports of an undisclosed vehicle colliding with a moped.

Austin-Travis County EMS says a woman in her 20s was declared dead at the scene.
