A South Austin apartment building was damaged in a 4-alarm fire Tuesday afternoon.

It started at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Victory Drive at the James Place Apartments, just northeast of the South Lamar and West Ben White intersection.

A total of 24 apartment units were affected. Over 30 people are displaced. No injuries have been reported.

The fire cause is believed to be accidental, possibly an improperly discarded cigarette on the second-floor of the building, according to AFD. Central Texas Red Cross will assist the displaced residents.

Damages are estimated at $750,000 to the structure and $250,000 to the contents inside.
