Last summer CBS Austin "Forever Families" featured 15-year-old Zach. He dreams of becoming a police officer and a big brother someday.

"Zach was interviewed about six months ago and since then, he's changed placements. He's in a different place where they're able to meet his needs," said CPS Adoption Supervisor Erika Settles.

Settles says Zach has been waiting to be adopted for four years.

"What is it about Zach that kind of tugs on your heart strings and keeps him on your mind?" asked CBS Austin Reporter Lindsay Liepman.

"When I first met Zach he was so warm and welcoming. He had great manners. He said, 'Hi, Erika. I'm Zach. It's so nice to meet you.' He's just warm and tender-hearted and gentle and very kind," said Settles.

Zach thrives on stability and structure. The institution where he lives will give him that, but he wants so much more.

"He just wants a family. He just wants to be loved. He just wants to be nurtured. And he's still waiting," said Settles.

Zach is featured in The Heart Gallery of Central Texas, a project of Partnerships for Children. CBS Austin "Forever Families" airs every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
