Forever Families: Devion
A teenager takes flight and tells us what makes his dreams soar.
"Devion is very social. He loves sports. He loves ladies. He makes friends pretty easily," said Grace Lindgren, Wendy's Wonderful Kids Recruiter.
15-year-old Devion made a few new friends and the memory of a lifetime at iFLY in Austin, an in-door skydiving experience. He's usually talkative and funny, but the thought defying gravity makes Devion a little nervous.
"Alright dude, I gotta see you smile at least once before we go in," said iFLY Instructor Jake as Devion gave him a big smile.
"It was fun. At first, it was kind of scary but after I got used to it, it wasn't," said Devion describing his first indoor skydiving experience.
For more than half his life, Devion has been waiting for a forever family.
"You never outgrow needing parents," said Lindgren who has known Devion since he was 6 years old.
"He needs an active family. A family that will go to his sporting events and cheer him on from the sides," said Lindgren.
"How do you keep going?" asked CBS Austin Reporter Lindsay Liepman.
"I think you have to. I don't think there's a choice. These kids are our responsibility and we have to keep going. It may be my job. It may be your job but this is his entire life," said Lindgren.
Devion wants to go to college, become a famous rap artist and do one more thing.
"Helping people. People that are like me," said Devion.
